La Llorona

This is my senior thesis comic La Llorona! After researching the folk tale and origins of different ghost stories, I decided to make my own personal version considering La Llorona's history as a feminist icon in Mexico and her unique symbolism of Motherhood.

I could go one for a long time about la llorona's defiance of every expectation of motherhood, and my own experiences with mother figures in my life that also deeply inspired the comic, but long story short I wanted to give her somewhat of a redemption where instead of being something to fear, her remorse for her past leads her to become a guardian of women and children.
